I am so excited about this episode. I have wanted to present this project to you for so long and now that we are playing with Doubleweave, it is here.
In 2011, I travelled to India with Charllotte Kwon of the Maiwa Foundation to assist in a master class hosted in the village of Phulia, West Bengal. While there, I met some of the most remarkable weavers I have ever had the pleasure of watching, with dropped jaw. I can't begin to tell you how much I learned.

I also got to purchase some remarkable Saris designed by Bappadittya Biswas. You have seen one of them hanging in the studio throughout the years of filming for the School of Weaving. The red and gold backdrop is always close by.

So it is with great pleasure that I get to teach you how it was made, and help you make a few mini saris to drape around your neck.

Things you will learn:
-How to weave pockets that can be stuffed (or not) that are framed with plain weave.
-That when making a pocket that is see-through, we don’t double the density of the warp.
-How to easily insert sequins.
-How Saris are often woven with warp predominant selvedges to strengthen them.
-How to sley the first few dents of the selvedges so it’s not fussy to weave.
-How to look at the threading and determine other ways of weaving it, in this case Turned Twill.
